When my son was diagnosed with ADHD,
his CHOP doctor, recommended karate to help with focus and coordination skills. I researched two schools, one in Harleysville, the other in Lansdale. I sat through classes, watched how the instructors interacted with their students and parents, I even questioned the instructors about their teaching methods. I just wasn’t satisfied.
Then one day at Cub Scout Day Camp, I was talking to our cub master at one of the stations and we were discussing karate. I mentioned to him that I was looking into different karate schools and wasn’t happy with what I found. Well, then my search had ended. I had found the martial arts school that would be perfect for him, White Eagle Martial Arts. If I couldn’t trust his cub master, then whom could I trust?!
He was one of the first students at the Towamencin School, which has been relocated to the Indian Valley YMCA. Last year he attended Karate Day Camp at the Spring Valley YMCA and is looking forward to doing it again. My son has been in karate since November 2007 and has advanced to a green belt. In addition he is involved with the WEMA demo team. Recently he performed with the team at Lansdale Boys and Girls Club with three other boys, to a form he created. Martial arts has been great for him, not just for his strength, focus, and coordination skills, but also with teaching him patience and perseverance. He has met many new friends and we have gone rock climbing, camping and picnicking with the members of the school. Aside from meeting new friends, he has also had the experience to train along side his father who is also a member of the school. White Eagle Martial Arts is not just a martial arts school, but also a martial arts family.
