We combine the following styles into one complete system

How does White Eagle Martial Arts, Inc differ from other schools?

1. W.E.M.A. philosophy regarding belt promotion is unique. We do not adhere to the idea of pushing people through the belt system just to please the sense of promotion. W.E.M.A. focuses more on the person rather than the belt and does not promote a student unless they are ready. The instructors at W.E.M.A. want to make sure you receive the instruction you need so that you can move to the next level.

2. We promote independence and confidence in each of our students.

3. We teach Martial Arts as a way of life.

4. When we teach a technique, we teach the ‘essence’ of the technique.

Daily Practice

  • It is important that when you start your martial art training, that you practice on a daily basis.
  • Practice not only improves your technique, it also furthers your understanding of the martial art forms.
  • Daily practice gives results, it helps you concentrate and focus on what you are doing.
  • We understand how difficult it is to find the time for daily practice, but finding the time and practicing is part of the struggle to become a Black Belt.
  • Practice is the necessary component for mastery.
  • Practice is what develops discipline.

Why should you practice daily:

When you start your training, you are learning new techniques.  You will start with very simple exercises.

As you advance in your belts, your body is being conditioned, and you are learning new techniques and forms.  Your body is becoming stronger from your daily practice. This will allow a gradual increase in strength, flexibility and breathing. It is important that everything grows at a steady pace.

As you get promoted, there are more responsibilities and techniques that you should know.  Here is where it is important that you practice on your own.

Now that you have had several months of training, you have had several months to increase your strength and stamina. If your only practice is at the Dojang (karate school), you will be limited to how in shape you will become.  While you are at class, you will only workout for an hour which includes breaking into small groups for learning. Coming to class will give 'some' increase, but conditioning has to be a daily discipline for you to improve your  ability, strength and techniques.

Remember - when you come to the Dojang, you are there to learn new techniques and refine your training.

When you train at home, you are re-enforcing what you have learned at the karate school and also are building your strength by practicing all of the techniques that you have learned at the Dojang.

So the answer to the question IS: 'You will only get so far before you become frustrated with your training if you do not practice, and you will grow so much more if you do!'
